Juicy bison brats smoothered in cream cheese, cheddar, bacon and jalepaneos.
• 1 pack of Bison Brats or Franks
• 2-3 Tbsp Cream Cheese
• 1/4 cup of Cheddar Cheese
• 2-3 slices of Cooked Bacon (crumbled)
• 1 Jalepaneo
• Wood or Metal Skewers
Heat your grill to 175 degrees. While your grill is heating up go ahead and prepare all of your ingredients.
Start by cooking your bacon in your perferred method. We popped ours into the airfryer for 12 minutes at 400 degrees. Now grate about 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese. If you like it extra cheesy you can add until you get your desired amount. Slice your jalepaneo into thin round slices. You can cut them into chunks if you prefer.
Now that your bacon is cooked and your grill is at 175 degrees you are going to take all four brats (or franks) and slide them onto two skewers. Make sure they are all pressed together with little to no space inbetween.
Place them on the grill for 2-3 minutes then flip. Once flipped you can now begin to layer on your ingredients. Starting with your cream cheese, place 3-4 dollups down the middle of the brats. As it melts it will begin to spread itself out. Now sprinkle your cheddar cheese until you have your desired coverage. Take your bacon crumbles and add those ontop of the cheddar and then finish it all off with your jalepaneo slices. Once your bison brats are loaded, close the lid and let cook for about 4 minutes or until your cream cheese and cheddar have melted.
Place your loaded brats on a cutting board, cut in half and serve!
Bison contains less fat and cooking time should be based on internal temperature. If you are unfamiliar with cooking bison be sure to cook low and slow.
